Is my mobility scooter getting a parking ticket?

Westminster Councils polices for the elderly and disabled are a disgrace. In May 2008 campaigner Joan Bakewell fought Westminster Council to introduce a cash alternative for car drivers wishing to park in the borough. Embarrassed by the publicity the Council backed down and brought in scratch cards for car drivers which can be bought for cash instead of the previous credit card only policy. In August 2008 Westminster Council introduced a cashless parking tax for scooters and motorcycles. There are no concessions for disabled riders or OAP’s who do not have a credit card and a mobile phone. Unlike car drivers Westminster Council expects disabled riders to stand out in the street shouting out their credit card details into mobile phone. For more information www.notobikeparkingtax.com
